Hotel Universal

This hotel was very nice for its price, staff is super friendly and helpful with directions and helping us getting around the area, view was amazing from our room as it is facing the ocean, the breakfast was delicious and had a vast variety of food and drinks. Room was decently spacious accommodating 2 people. The only concern was the paper thin walls, you could hear basically every door open and close and conversations from joint rooms.

I would have originally rated this hotel 5 stars from our check in experience and first night stay. The hotel itself is very nice and clean and our room was really impressive for a 3 star - we were very surprised. Although, throughout our stay we felt we were treated poorly by a few of the staff. The lady who handles breakfast is very rude and inhospitable. She rolled her eyes at my partner when he asked for a tea 5 minutes before the ending time of breakfast. She also told us rudely to leave the breakfast room at 10am on the dot whilst we were still eating. When we checked out after our 3 night stay we requested if it was possible for another night. Hotel was full which is fine of course. We asked if it would be okay if used the (always completely empty) pool space while we waited for check in at our next hotel. We were told this isn’t possible and we could use it for an hour if we wanted but then we have to leave. The manager of this hotel although was the only staff member that had any sort of interpersonal skill. He was very accomodating and down to earth.

I am not a person used to negative feedback, but after paying 310€ for two nights, and going with high expectations, certain aspects of the hotel disappointed me. The staff was not friendly, especially the lady in charge of breakfast (I will make an exception for the person who checked us out, the only one who was polite during the stay). On the other hand, the cleanliness of the room was a bit poor, (we found hair in the bathroom and the toilet had signs of, I would like to think, urine and not something else).
